Join an ACT Ride Committe!
The ACT 10 Steering Committee needs your help in planning a successful 10th anniversary ride. Do you have ideas about how to make the ride better? We need veteran riders and crew to give back to the ride in some small way, but more than just coming to events or participating on the ride. Want to go beyond responding to a survey? Join a committee.
If you are interested in helping out please fill contact the chair directly, indicating a particular area of interest or a special skill you have to offer.
Participant Support (Chair: Ellen Hebron)
Participant Support is the core of what we do and has many important roles: planning training rides, hosting ACT Ride information sessions, participant house parties and other orientation sessions. Together with Community, it actively works to ensure that the Ride is an engaging, positive time for all participants.
Crew/Medical (Chair: Christopher Henry and Robert Hauser)
Working with the Volunteer Coordinator, the Committee determines the number of crewmembers and volunteers needed throughout the Ride, recruits participants to fill those positions, and trains and supports crewmembers throughout the Ride.
Camp/Food (Chairs: Ron Roberts)
It takes a lot of effort to house and feed 300 people over four days. This committee sets-up each school, determines each day’s food menu, and ensures the general well being and safety of all participants during the Ride.
Marketing (Chair: Lana Chute)
Marketing takes the lead in the overall theme, design and incentives that are provided on the Ride. In association with Firepower Design, Marketing literally brings ideas to life. In addition, working with our development staff, we identify ways to find and maintain sponsors to allow for the highest returns from the Ride to the AIDS Network.
Day Zero/Opening/Closing (Chair: Keith Lupien)
The “DOC” committee is responsible for Day Zero (registration) and the Opening and Closing ceremonies. Have an idea about how to improve efficiency at registration, or provide more variety at Closing? Join this committee!
Route (Chair: Pam Puckett)
Route is responsible for developing the entire four-day, 300 mile course, including locating camps. Route contacts the local authorities for necessary approvals, recruits riders to pre-ride the route, secures pit sites and coordinates road markings prior and during the Ride.
Community (Chair: Michaela Torcaso)
The Community committee will focus prior to the Ride on events or activities that will bring together new and returning participants so that the Ride is more inclusive for all. During the Ride, the committee will develop additional nightly activities, a contemplative and learning room, and physical, mental and spiritual relaxation methods.
Communication (Chair: Larry Palm)
Responsible for coordinating and enhancing our primary communication tools (emails, website, newsletter and social media) this committee will work to inform and engage participants, volunteers, donors and community members in concise, vibrant communication.
