Mentors
Once you've registered to be a ACT 6 rider, you will be assigned a volunteer Mentor.
The Mentor is your main point of contact and your rock of support. They will have
knowledge about what it's like to participate in a multi-day cycling event and how to
go about fundraising. Please call your Mentor with questions, concerns, help designing
your personal fundraising and training plan, and other ACT 6 related needs.
Your mentor can help you set a fundraising goal and action plan:
- Provide fundraising website assistance if needed.
- Assist with writing a fundraising letter.
- Assist with scheduling and arranging a house party.
- Help set up a training plan.
- Provide equipment advice, drawing from their own experience. The initial
investment for cycling can be high so talk to your mentor about alternatives.
Your mentor can answer a lot of other questions:
- Tell you about the discounts/special offers that apply to ACT 6 participants.
- Tell you about attending training rides and other social events. Ask your mentor
when they will be going to training rides so you can go together.
- Get answers for you about your specific questions regarding fundraising, training,
what the ride is like, what camp is like on the ride and what gear to take.
- Tell you about volunteering with AIDS Network, or what roles AIDS Network staff
and the volunteer steering committee having in making ACT 6 happen.
If you are registered for ACT 6 and your Mentor has not contacted you yet, please
contact one of the Mentor Coordinators to verify your contact information. Remember that your
Mentor is there to help you!
